A Conversation with Four Millennials on “Announcing the Call”

The Legacy Series presents “A Conversation with Four Millennial Preachers,” hosted by Dr. Frank A. Thomas, Director, PhD Program in African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric at Christian Theological Seminary.

Many times Millennial voices are consulted by the broader African American church community only to find out how to get Millennials to come to church or how to increase worship attendance by attracting Millennials. What if we took Millennial voices more seriously than that? What if we believed that Millennial voices had truth, wisdom, and insight to offer the church? What if we truly believed that Millennial voices can make older preachers and the black church wiser and stronger. Believing that Millennial voices are rich and profound, Dr. Frank A. Thomas interview four millennial preachers Rev. Dr. Neichelle Guidry, Rev. Dr. Charlie Dates, Rev. Willie D. Francois, III, and Rev. Dr. Brianna K. Parker and discusses preaching from the millennial perspective: call stories, sermon preparation, preaching mentors, technology and social media, depth in preaching, Womanist preaching, and so much more.
