James Cone “The Cross and the Lynching Tree” PowerPoint

Dr. Colleen Birchett: I have had several requests for a power point that I used at The Riverside Church in New York. The course was on Dr. James Cone’s book, “The Cross and the Lynching Tree”. Because his reach was worldwide, I thought I might make the power point available for those who might see ways to use it, especially during this time as we celebrate his life.

The cross and the lynching tree are the two most emotionally charged symbols in the history of the African American community. In this powerful new work, theologian James H. Cone explores these symbols and their interconnection in the history and souls of black folk.
